Instruction dawning: Stg. Huize Aarde

The head of the technical department makes special holes in the top of used plastic water bottles from the dialyses department.

At the moment this picture has been taken the man said: "This fantastic idea I will tell my colleagues of other hospitals in town." Some months later he did this indeed.

The first trained group that would put into practise the new sharp separation system. The personnel themselves sewed red bags for the sharps bottles.

Some needles from the Intensive Care are too long for the standard sharps bottle. The personnel found a solution for this themselves (a big mayonnaise pot from the kitchen) and here they are testing this idea.

Before the start of the campaign used needles were found everywhere: in waste bins, under beds, in the corridor, elevator, patio and even around the hospital. Two weeks after the start of the campaign sharps bottles where standing and hanging on all departments of the hospital. Within a month the hospital was sharp free. Years later the system still works.
